The XMC-2 is based on the same advanced hardware platform we developed for our reference processor, the RMC-1, which combines powerful new cutting-edge DSP technology with painstaking analog circuit design to deliver the best possible audio performance. Running on this hardware platform, our proprietary OS controls the menu system and all of the advanced control logic. The XMC-2 features the same advanced 4k HDR and Dolby Vision UHD video switching capabilities as the RMC-1, the same support for decoding and processing a full sixteen channels of superb quality Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound audio, and the same powerful yet simple to use menu system.


The XMC-2 uses the same audiophile quality AKM AK4490 32-Bit DACs as our flagship RMC-1, and provides the same sixteen channels of fully balanced audio output. The AK4490, which is already a superb fully differential stereo DACs, also offers a super-high-quality mode called mono mode. On the RMC-1, each of the sixteen output channels uses the DAC chip in this special mode, for the absolute ultimate in sound quality; on the XMC-2, the front three channels and main LFE outputs are operated in this mode, while the remaining channels use the AK4490 in its normal – and excellent sounding – stereo differential mode. The XMC-2 uses a single high quality graphical OLED display, and is operated by more traditional navigation interface.

Cutting Edge Operating System and Processors

Main System Processor:

  • The XMC-2 is controlled by our own proprietary Linux-based operating system, and by several powerful DSP engines, each running custom software code.
  • The main control functions on the XMC-2 are handled by a Texas Instruments AM-1808 Sitara Arm9 32 bit 375MHz processor.

Video Processing:

  • The XMC_2 is a pure video switch; video inputs are switched directly to the appropriate output without any unnecessary processing. Video switching on theXMC-2 is handled by three Panasonic MN864788 High Speed LSI 4k UHD Video Switches.

Audio Processing:

  • All audio decoding and post processing is handled by twin Analog Devices, dual-core, 450 MHz DSP engines.
  • Audio digital-to-analog conversion is performed by AKM AK4490 Verita DACs (operating in fully balanced Mono mode on the front three channels; fully balanced stereo mode for the remaining channels).
